Karterados

Karterados is a traditional village, slightly inland to the east of Fira, it's made up of one main street that runs through the centre of the village and other narrow streets with traditional Cycladic buildings as well as cave houses built into the rocks.

Ancient Thera

Ancient Thera is found between Kamari and Perissa. It's the ruins of an ancient city that was built in the 9th century BC and abandoned in 726 AD. It’s been excavated since 1895 and the findings can be seen at the archaeological museum in Fira.

Panagia Episkopi

Panagia Episkopi is a Byzantine church built in the 11th Century by Emperor Alexios A’ Kominos and is home to the icon of Panagia Glikofilousa. It's the oldest church in Santorini and one of the best examples of traditional ecclesiastical architecture on the island.

Sunset in Oia

Watching the sunset in Oia is probably one of the most popular things to do in Santorini, it's an amazing view and you’ll most likely find yourself waiting for the sunset on more than one evening, finding a bit of space to yourself can be challenging though.

Open Air Cinema Kamari

The open air cinema is located at the entrance to the village of Kamari on the Fira road. It shows movies in English with Greek subtitles, the films start at 21.30 with the doors opening 40 minutes before at 20.50 with a full bar it makes for a great night.

Santorini Cable Car

The Cable car isn't really an attraction as such, it runs from the old port up to the main town of Fira above and allows you to bypass the 600 steps which takes 20 to 30 minutes to walk and is particularly challenging in the summer heat.

Ancient Akrotiri

Ancient Akrotiri is a Minoan Bronze Age settlement close to the modern village of Akrotiri. The ancient village was buried by the volcanic eruption that created the caldera and made the island the way it is and dates back over 3500 years.

Museum of Prehistoric Thera

The Museum of Prehistoric Thera houses many artefacts that were discovered in excavations on the island, particularly from the Ancient Thera archaeological site as well as impressive vases and sculptures dating back as far as the 5th century BC.

Skaros Rock

Skaros rock is a natural rock formation on the edge of Imerovigli, it’s a fantastic place for a hike where you’ll be rewarded with incredible views over the caldera and the hillside buildings of Imerovigli, Firostefani and Fira as well as Oia in the distance.

Sunset in Fira

The Sunset in Fira is a fantastic event and enjoyed by almost everyone in the town. The best thing to do is find yourself a restaurant or bar that has a Caldera facing balcony and simply sit back and relax as the sun goes down.
