Which Greek Island Blog

Skala Sotiros

Skala Sotiros is a delightful little harbour village on the west coast of Thassos. It's small and quiet with a little beach, a good choice of hotels, a handful of bars and restaurants around the water front as well as a bakery and supermarket.

Theologos

Theologos is a traditional village built into the natural beauty of the Thassos hillside. Once the capital of the island, now it's a small village with winding cobbled streets that's lovely to spend a morning or afternoon exploring and enjoying the scenery.

Panagia

Panagia is a picturesque village built on the mountainside roughly 300m above sea level, it offers fabulous views over the Aegean. It's not one of the more popular tourist resorts but it does still have a handful of places to stay and a number of good tavernas.

Potamia

Potamia is nestled in the hills of mount Ipsárion in the north east of Thassos. This isn’t the sort of village that most holiday makers would want to stay in as it’s too quiet, if however you like to visit the real Greece then Potamia could be a good option.

Potos

Potos is a popular tourist destination on the south coast with narrow streets that are lined with bars, restaurants and shops. It has a lovely long sand beach with all the facilities you need for a day out in the sun including watersports and loungers.

Agios Georgios

The village of Agios Georgios is nestled in the trees up on the hill side to the north west of Thassos, it's a very small village with no hotels so it's not somewhere you can base your holiday but it is a lovely place for a short visit to get away from the crowds.

Alyki

There isn’t much to Alyki as it’s really just a couple of beaches a trio of tavernas on the main beach, a mini market and a few places to stay including some old stone houses between the two beaches that are available to rent. There’s no village centre as such.

Astrida

Astrida, sometimes also known as Astris is an area of unspoiled natural beauty with gently sloping hills and rocky scenery nestled among olive groves towards the south of Thassos island. There's not much in the way of tourist facilities but that's one of it's charms.

Kallirachi

Kallirachi is on the west side of Thassos, it's a quiet village that has narrow cobbled streets and beautiful houses built from Thassos stone with terracotta roofs. The village has a tranquil, relaxed environment which makes it a lovely place to visit.

Kazaviti

Kazaviti is a beautiful village set on the mountain slopes of Thassos island, As it’s up in the mountains it offers spectacular views of the island and the Aegean sea, just watch out for those winding roads that lead up to the village, particularly at night.
