Avlaki beach is in the north of
Corfu island, between
Agios Stefanos and
Kassiopi, it’s about an hours drive to or from the capital
Kerkyra along the gorgeous coastal road.
Avlaki is a quiet pebble beach which means the sea is clear making it the perfect spot to try a bit of snorkelling. There are often stronger winds in the north so you may find the sea can be a little choppy. Because of the winds, pebbles and the close proximity of the road behind the beach it’s not ideal for young children. Avlaki beach usually gets a cooling breeze in the afternoon which wont be to everyone’s taste but is certainly a welcome relief in the height of summer.
There are two tavernas at Avlaki beach, both are set back from the beach, just the other side of the road and both are found towards the western end of the beach, this is also where you’ll find the small number of sun loungers that are available to hire.
On the eastern side of the beach there’s a sailing centre where you can rent out sail boats or windsurfing equipment. They also offer lessons for those that haven’t tried it before or need a refresher course.
Parking is permitted on the roadside at the rear of the beach and as Avlaki isn’t a crowded beach you should easily find a spot.
