Glyfada is a popular beach on the west coast of
Corfu, roughly in line with the airport and just over half an hours drive from the capital
Kerkyra.
The beach is surrounded by rocky, tree covered hill side, has soft golden sand and beautiful clear water so it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.
On top of the idyllic scenery Glyfada has all the usual tourist facilities including a good selection of water sports and a diving platform which teens will love messing around on, because of these and the beach side bars it tends to attract a younger crowd so can get quite loud in the day. It’s also popular in the evening with a bit of a beach party going on.
Glyfada is great for all ages, the water doesn’t get too deep so youngsters can paddle and play safely, teens will love the water sports and atmosphere on the beach and adults can enjoy a nice meal and a drink from the bars. The only people that wouldn’t enjoy the beach are those looking for a quiet place to relax and read.
There are good quality wooden sun loungers available to hire with soft cushions for extra comfort, these are mostly located around the various beach side tavernas. The tavernas also play music over the beach to entertain their customers. Don’t worry though, there’s also a section in the middle of the beach that’s left clear for those that just want to lay out a towle on the sand and relax.
There’s a regular bus from Corfu town and a good sized parking area at the rear of the beach too so it’s easy to get to Glyfada.
