There are two villages called Agios Georgios (Saint George) in
Corfu, this one in the south west of the island and another known as
Agios Georgios Pagon in the north west. This one is around 45 minutes from the capital
Kerkyra and a bit less to the airport.
Agios Georgios is quite a spread out village covering around 2.5 kilometres of the coast line with a good selection of hotels, restaurants, bars and shops. You’ll find a lot of the facilities around the waters edge and this means you get to enjoy the sea views with your meal or drinks.
There’s also plenty of other businesses including car hire outlets for those that want to explore the island, supermarkets to stock up on those necessities and a handful of ATMs in case you need some extra cash.
If you enjoy a walk in the olive groves then Agios Georgios south could be the perfect place for you, there are a number of easy paths to keep you occupied or you could head inland to the small traditional village of Argirades.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Agios Georgios South page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
There’s a good variety of nightlife in Saint Georges south with bars and restaurants littering the coastal road that runs through the village.
You’ll find bars that stay open late with DJs and party events and even a night club. There’s a karaoke night and Greek dancing nights if you want some extra entertainment too.
If you just want a quiet night in a restaurant and a few drinks then Agios Georgios has you covered there too, there’s tons of options and variety to suit all tastes.
Agios Georgios south beach is found at the southern end of the village and stretches on for what seems like an eternity, it’s great for those that want to find a bit of space to them selves. It also has sun loungers, water sports and much more for those that prefer a more lively day at the beach.
The main downside of Agios Georgios is the fact that it’s a long way from most of the islands other major towns and villages as well as tourist attractions which are largely in the north of the island. Having said that there are a couple of places that are near by, for example the wildlife haven of
Lake Korission is just a couple of kilometres away as is the wonderful
Halikounas beach where you can try kite surfing.
