Nisos forest is on the north coast of
Corfu, close to
Agios Spyridon beach and just over an hours drive from the capital
Kerkyra.
Nisos is a small forest that’s great for a quiet walk, there’s a gravel path that leads through the forest from Agios Spyridon beach in the east to Almiros beach in the west passing by Gialiskari Beach, Antinioti West Beach and the abandoned monastery of Agía Ekateríni.
The abandoned monastery is a bit of a wreck these days but there is still some artwork inside and on the walls and some of the structure is still standing so worth stopping on the walk past.
The beaches along the walk are very secluded and are sometimes used by naturists so keep this in mind if you plan to stop at a beach. As well as naked people you’re likely to encounter some goats and other wildlife along the way.
The entire walk would probably only take around 20 minutes in total unless you stop at some of the places mentioned. If you want to continue your walk further on then you can stroll down the beach towards Acharavi. It’s probably worth applying insect repellent before heading into the forest as insect bites are common in the area.
