Karavados is a delightful village that stands at the foot of mount Ainos, surrounded by pine trees, olive groves and citrus groves. It’s close to the southern coast of
Kefalonia between
Argostoli and
Skala. That means it’s just 15 minutes drive from both the airport and the capital.
The village has a large church at the centre and a number of private villas and apartments available to rent as well as one mini market and a restaurant but that’s about it. There's more hotels in the surrounding areas and other small villages too so if you want to stay in the region you can but most would probably just visit for the day.
Karavados would suit those that like to get away from the tourist hot spots and experience a bit of Greek village life, it's also in a good area for exploring the island as you can easily go north towards the capital or head to the south coast.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Karavados page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
There’s virtually nothing in the way of night life in Karavados, like much of Kefalonia you’re meant to relax and enjoy the scenery and spectacular views over the south coast of the island.
If you fancy a more lively night out you can head up to
Lassi or down to Skala, both of which offer a wealth of evening entertainment bars and restaurants and any other tourist facilities you might be looking for. Alternatively make the trip to Argostoli where you’ll find the late night clubs and bars.
Karavados isn’t on the beach itself but there is
Agios Thomas beach just down the road and
Trapezaki beach a couple of minutes along the coast. There are also several smaller beaches near Karavados where you can enjoy a bit of seclusion from the crowds of the tourist beaches, you’ll just have to explore and find them for yourself.
