Karavomylos is an attractive village close to
Sami on the main coastal road that leads north to
Agia Efimia out on the east coast of
Kefalonia. It’s about 40 minutes from
Argostoli and around 45 minutes from the airport.
It’s a very quiet area of the island with just a few restaurants and tavernas, the nearby beaches are mainly pebble but if you explore you can often find a secluded cove to have to yourself.
Karavomylos has a fair selection of hotels considering it’s size, some in the village itself and others in the wider area. There’s a mini market to get your supplies and a lake right next to the sea which is a nice area to visit. There’s also a camp site between Karavomylos and Sami.
Going to Karavomylos is like a two for one deal as there’s only around 1 kilometre between it and Sami meaning you can easily walk between the two so if you get bored in one you can head to the other and enjoy the change of scenery.
There’s no cash machines or car hire outlets in Karavomylos but there are both in Sami.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Karavomylos page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Karavomylos is low key, there’s a few bars around the village but not much in terms of entertainment, there’s no live music or clubs.
Karavomylos would suit those looking for a quieter break away from the tourist heavy resorts that most people go to and the nightlife reflects that.
Karavomylos, like Sami is a good location if you plan to explore the entire island as most other resorts are approximately 45 minutes away by car, you are also not far from the ever popular
Myrtos beach and attractions such as
Melissani lake caves, and the
Drogorati caves are right on the doorstep.
