Trapezaki is a small village set on a hillside close to the south coast of
Kefalonia. It’s about 20 minutes from the capital
Argostoli. It’s also about 20 minutes from Kefalonia airport so transfer times should be pretty quick, even if you’re the last drop off.
This is a quiet and peaceful resort with only a few tavernas and a couple of mini-markets, if you stay in Trapezaki then you’ll be the sort of person that wants to get away from the crowds of the main tourist hot spots and just enjoy the scenery.
Although there’s not much in the way of facilities, there’s minimal shops, restaurants and no car hire outlets or ATMs, what there is though is a ton of accommodation options, there’s loads of villas in the area as well as some mid size hotels with a handful of rooms each and private swimming pools.
Trapezaki is probably not a resort suited to families, particularly those with young kids as the beach here is narrow and pebbly and there isn’t much else to keep them entertained. If you get bored easily then stay somewhere else or at least hire a car so you can travel the island to see the sights.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Trapezaki page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Trapezaki is pretty basic, there’s not many restaurants and bars and definitely no night clubs or places to party.
Most people would simply spend the evening in one of the restaurant bars or hotel bars with a few drinks whist enjoying the warm Greek evenings.
The area of Trapezaki is pretty rural with plenty of good tracks for those that enjoy rambling. Also nearby is
St Georges Castle and the villages of
Karavados and
Lourdas.
Trapezaki is a decent base from exploring the island, particularly the southern end of the island as you can get to most of the southern villages within 45 minutes. The more northern villages and the paliki peninsula will be over an hours drive though.
There is a beach called
Trapezaki beach but it’s not really in the village, it’s on the south coast and is walkable from most hotels in the village in around 20-30 minutes. Another beach in the area is
Agios Thomas beach it’s just to the west of Trapezaki beach but arrive early as it’s quite small.
