Agios Stefanos Beach is found on the south coast of
Kos island, it’s mainly sand with a few pebbles scattered around. Right down the middle of the beach is the remains of the
Basilica of Agios Stefanos which adds to the charm of the surroundings and is also a nice place to have a walk round.
On the eastern section of the beach you’ll find it’s more sandy with the western side being where the water sports are. Both sides have sun loungers available to hire and there’s a small hut for food and drink.
The beach is easily accessible as it is off the main road that runs down Kos island and there’s parking at the rear of the beach right next to the basilica.
Also unique to Agios Stefanos beach is the fact that you can swim out to
Kastri islet which is right opposite. On Kastri is a small white washed church with a blue domed roof where you can have a look around and ring the bell. It’s possible to swim across to Kastri but we would only recommend it for strong confident swimmers. Otherwise hire a boat or pedalo to make the trip.
