Sunny beach is another one of the south coast beaches and sits between
Magic beach and
Markos beach.
Sunny beach is officially known as Psilos Gremos beach, the reason it’s now more commanly referred to as Sunny beach is because the taverna on the beach is called Sunny and the sign on the road pointing to the taverna makes people think that’s the name of the beach too.
Getting to Sunny beach is simple as it’s just off the main road that runs from
Kos town to
Kefalos. There’s a dirt track from the main road down to the beach but it’s pretty straight forward, even in the most basic hire cars. Once on the beach you’ll find ample parking either around the taverna or slightly further down on the beach itself.
Sunny beach is similar to the other beaches around it in that it has slightly coarse sand with the odd rocky area. It’s usually quiet, especially when compared to the likes of
Paradise beach or
Tigaki beach. There are two rows of sun loungers available to hire and the rest of the beach is left clear for you to lay a towel down and enjoy. It’s great for kids as the slope into the sea is gentle so they can safely play in the shallows without worrying about a sudden drop off. There’s no water sports, you’ll have to take a walk up to Paradise beach for that.
Sunny beach is perfect for those that want to get away from the larger more tourist heavy beaches and simply enjoy the sun and the sea but still want a beach with the basic facilities.
