Hippocrates Garden is a cultural centre and reconstruction of a traditional house built not far from the airport and just west of
Antimachia. It’s around 30km from the capital
Kos town which would take roughly 45 minutes to drive.
At Hippocrates Garden you’ll find a beautiful 2 story villa built as an exact replica of the types of houses that would have existed in the 5th century B.C. There’s also a philosopher’s arcade a stone built theatre with a capacity for 80 people and gorgeous botanical gardens.
Around the house and other buildings are various artifacts that show how the house would have been used, there’s decorations and home comforts like blankets and rugs there’s also mosaic floors and statues making this a lovely place to spend some time and learn about the history and culture of Kos and the ancient Greeks.
Throughout the year there are events taking place, in the summer this could consist of traditional performances at the theatre as well as seminars on all sorts of topics from the environment to pottery, mosaics to cooking and much more.
