About Delos Island
Delos is a small island located a short distance south west of Mykonos. There are regular ferries and tours in the summer months that leave from Mykonos and take about 30 minutes to make the crossing. Depending on what option you go for it can cost anywhere from 20-50€
The island has only 14 inhabitants (mostly of old age) and is worth visiting because of its rich archaeological heritage and the museum that has unique artifacts and exhibitions of ancient Greek history. The island is said to have been inhabited from the 3rd millennium B.C.
According to an ancient Greek myth Delos was the birthplace of the twin Gods Apollo and Artemis. Among its most noteworthy landmarks is the Minoan Fountain that dates back to the 6th century B.C, a series of old market squares, The Terrace of Lions, The House of Dionysos (the Greek God of wine and fun), The Isis Temple, and Delos Synagogue (one of the oldest synagogues of ancient history).
