Afandou is a town at the northern end the east coast of
Rhodes island. It’s about a 25 minute drive to both the airport and the capital
Rhodes Town. Afandou is sometimes spelled as Afantou so if you see that it’s the same place.
In the town you’ll find loads of places to stay including hotels, apartments and villas to rent. There’s also a huge selection of tavernas, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, travel agencies, vehicle rental shops and multiple ATMs dotted around.
On top of all the amenities there’s a 7km long, mostly pebble beach which is imaginatively named
Afandou beach. There’s sun loungers on some sections of the beach and a few tavernas along the rear of the beach too.
There’s also a golf course called, you guessed it,
Afandou Golf Course. It’s a large town and really does have something for everyone.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Afandou page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Nightlife in Afandou is good, there’s plenty of options ranging from a nice relaxed meal and a spot of people watching to lively bars and even a couple of small clubs.
For those that want it there’s karaoke available as well as entertaining Greek nights with traditional dancing and music which are always popular.
The location of Afandou makes it perfect for those that want to travel around the island as its about half way between the capital and the most popular tourist day trip destination of Lindos.
Also nearby is the tourist resort of
Faliraki, it’s one of the 18-30 style destinations so it’s great for a night out partying but there’s more to it than just that. Faliraki also has a large sandy beach too so worth a visit.
