Gennadi is a village just south of
Lindos on the south east coast of
Rhodes. It’s over 60km from the islands capital
Rhodes Town and that’s about an hours drive. It’s around 65km to the airport so transfer times will be between 60 and 90 minutes.
As Gennadi is a working village as well as a tourist destination it does feel a bit different to the usual tourist resorts like
Faliraki or
Ixia. The restaurants are more authentic and you get a feel for the Greek way of life whilst still having the facilities like supermarkets, bars, restaurants, a bakery, vehicle hire outlets and a couple of cash machines.
The hotels in Gennadi range from small locally owned guest houses and apartments, usually found in the main village itself to huge hotel complexes with multiple pools and all-inclusive options, these are mainly on the outskirts of the village or along the coastal area.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Gennadi page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife is decent in Gennadi, despite it’s small size you still have a good selection of bars and restaurants, many of which are happy to stay open late if there’s people in there.
There’s often live music, DJs and Greek dancing in a number of the bars as well as delicious cocktails in some very trendy settings.
One of the best things about Gennadi is that it has a huge beach, it’s around 500m from the centre of the village so you can walk it in just 10 minutes.
The beach runs, uninterrupted for over 10km so you can easily go for a long stroll or find a bit to have to yourself. The only thing to note is that it’s pebbles rather than sand so not to everyone’s tastes.
