Ixia is a resort on the north west coast of
Rhodes, it’s just 6km outside the islands capital
Rhodes Town which is about a 10 minute drive or around an hours walk.
Transfer times from Rhodes airport to Ixia will be around 10 to 20 minutes as it’s just 8km from the airport.
The region isn’t really a village or town, it’s more a collection of enormous hotels located along the main coast road between Rhodes Town and
Ialysos.
These hotels are popular with the package style holidays that you get at the high street travel agents and offer various levels of comfort and facilities with many offering vast complexes with multiple swimming pools and all inclusive options too.
As for amenities, Ixia has that covered, there’s plenty of restaurants and shops, loads of cash machines, vehicle hire and travel agent shops as well as an almost endless supply tourist shops for souvenirs and other bits and bobs.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Ixia page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Nightlife in Ixia is mixed, there’s a good number of bars with several showing sports or having other entertainment but no clubs.
You can get some cocktails and stay out late if you want to but generally it’s going to be better suited to families looking for a nice meal and a couple of drinks before heading back to their hotel.
Ixia is in a superb location if you want to be both on the beach and within striking distance of Rhodes town, you can easily get a taxi to the capital and take in everything it has to offer, which is a lot.
Sandy beach lovers will want to look elsewhere as
Ixia beach is pebbles rather than sand. The best sandy beaches are on the opposite side of the island so it would probably be better to stay somewhere closer if that’s a priority.
If you like historic sites then head to
Ancient Ialyssos, it’s just 15 minutes from Ixia and parts of it dates back around 2500 years.
