Kolymbia is a resort on the east coast of
Rhodes, just south of
Afandou and
Faliraki. It's just over 20km from the capital
Rhodes Town and that's around a 30 minute drive. It's slightly further to the airport but not much so expect transfers to take from 40 minutes to a little over an hour depending on if you're the first or last drop off.
The village itself is built around two good beaches either side of the harbour. There's water sports and sun loungers available on the beaches so families of all ages should enjoy them.
The main road through the village is where you'll find the bulk of the bars, restaurants and shops. There's also ATMs, vehicle hire shops and souvenir shops too.
Outside of the main strip is where you find the hotels, there's loads available, many of which are large all-inclusive style hotels catering to package holiday makers but there's smaller independent hotels and villas too.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Kolymbia page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here or Jet2
here.
If you want to explore the areas coastline then you can hire a boat or join a tour from the harbour, it's a great way to get a different view of the island, as long as you don't get sea sick.
The night life in Kolymbia is minimal, there's no clubs or anything like that but there's a decent selection of bars including some that do delicious cocktails and have various night life to keep visitors entertained.
Many people that visit Kolymbia will choose to stay in their hotels who put on entertainment like Greek nights, karaoke and more.
From Kolymbia you can easily head north to Afandou which is a popular tourist resort or keep going further north to the much more lively Faliraki where you can take in the variety of nightlife or visit the fantastic
Faliraki beach available there.
Alternatively head south down to
Lindos where you can explore the winding streets or visit the
Acropolis of Lindos which is well worth a visit.
