Exo Gialos beach is probably the closest beach to
Fira, it’s on the east coast of
Santorini, roughly 2.5km from the outskirts of the capital.
It has black sand and pebbles with impressive cliffs at the rear and is usually quieter than the most popular beaches but not deserted. There's a modern taverna for food and drink, they have sun loungers with umbrellas available to rent as well as private cabanas and large bean bags to collapse into.
There's no water sports but there is a nice harbour nearby where you can watch the locals coming and going, you may also spot a few swans from time to time.
Away from the taverna you’ll find some space to claim as your own and to get a bit of peace and quiet so you have the best of both worlds.
There's parking available around the harbour and on the road behind the harbour and the road that leads down to the beach so you should be able to find a spot if arriving by car or quad.
