Vourvoulos beach is on the northeast coast of
Santorini close to
Imerovigli and just 7km from the islands capital
Fira.
The beach has course grey sand with some pebbles and rocks in places as well as some seaweed too. It's backed by cliffs at the northern end and a road at the southern end. Also at the southern end there's a small fishing harbour as well as the only taverna where you can get food and drink throughout the day.
Vourvoulos beach doesn’t attract too many tourists so is normally pretty quiet. That being said there are still a handful of sun loungers and umbrellas available to hire outside the taverna with the other end left clear. There's no water sports or music either so if you want those things look elsewhere.
Vourvoulos beach is not recommended for youngsters as the wind can be quite strong in the area which makes the waves difficult and unsafe for weaker swimmers.
There's parking available around the harbour or alternatively at the side of the road that takes you down to the beach, there's not a huge amount of spaces but more than enough for the amount of people that visit.
