Finikia is a beautiful village in the north of Thera island in
Santorini, it’s around 15km from both the airport and the capital
Fira and that journey would take about 20 minutes in the car.
Finikia is set among vineyards on the hills just west of
Oia. It has typical Cycladic houses with whitewash walls and blue windows as well as some houses painted in other pastel shades making it a lovely place for a wander through the narrow cobbled streets.
There a good amount of hotels and apartments available in Finikia but it’s probably not somewhere that most visitors to Santorini would want to stay as it’s so quiet and there’s not much in the way of restaurants or shops either. It’s perfect if you want to leave the hustle and bustle of the main tourist hot spots behind and have a relaxing day in a traditional Greek village though.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Finikia page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
As Finikia is a small village it doesn't offer the night life options that you'd get in the likes of Oia and Fira. That's not to say there's nothing to do there, of course there is, just not the variety that there is in those other locations.
There's a handful of tavernas / restaurants in the centre of the town so you can enjoy a nice meal and a few drinks there but if you want a more exciting night out then head over to Oia or in to the capital and enjoy your night out there.
You can easily walk between Oia and Finikia if you don’t have a car and it would probably take somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes.
There’s no beach in Finikia but there are a few in the north of Santorini, if you plan to stay in the area and would like to visit a beach then check out
Katharos beach,
Baxedes beach or
Kolumbo beach.
