Xanemos beach has course grey sand and a line of shingle around the waters edge, it’s found just north of
Skiathos airport and like the other northerly beaches the sea can get a bit rough when the wind is strong so with that and the stones it’s probably not a great place to take youngsters.
It’s also right at the end of the runway so although normally quiet and peaceful, the tranquillity does get ruined a bit whenever a plane takes off or lands, it is great for plane spotters though.
Xanemos beach is around 300m long and really deep so even with 3 rows of sun loungers it doesn’t feel busy or crowded at all as they are well spaced out and there’s loads of sand left clear if you don’t want a lounger. Xanemos is a great option if you want to get away from the mass crowds and it’s just a short walk from
Skiathos Town. There are no water sports but there is a taverna serving food and drinks throughout the day. There’s parking at the edge of the beach as well as a beach volleyball net to keep the more active in your group entertained.
Although Xanemos beach is not normally frequented by nudists there is a beach to the south of the main Xanemos beach that is often pretty deserted and can be used by naturists.
