Kanapitsa is a beautiful region in the Kalamaki peninsula towards the south of
Skiahtos island, it’s found down at bus stop 12. It’s around 6km from the capital
Skiathos Town which is a short 10-15 minute drive.
There's no real village centre in Kanapitsa, it's more just a collection of large hotels that are the perfect destination for a package holiday close to the beach. If you prefer smaller hotels then there's a handful of places available.
There’s a water taxi that runs from Kanapitsa beach to Skiathos town every hour so if you don’t have a vehicle of your own and don’t fancy going by bus then this is another way to get to the capital with the bonus that you get to take in the Skiathos coast line as you make your way to the main town.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Kanapitsa page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Kanapitsa has a quiet and relaxed feel, there's a few tavernas scattered about the area but no late night bars and certainly no clubs so don’t go expecting a lively resort, you’ll be disappointed.
If you do fancy a night out then you'd have to make the short trip to Skiathos Town which has plenty to keep you entertained all evening.
There's a couple of great sandy beaches close to Kanapitsa, both of which are a the perfect spot to spend those sunny days that are all but guaranteed in the summer months. To find out more about these beaches see our
Kanapitsa Beach and
Tzaneria Beach pages.
There's not much in the area in terms of sight seeing but there is a scuba diving school that operates from Tzaneria beach so if you want to see some of the local sea life up close then that's definitely worth checking out.
Another option is to hire a boat from Kanapitsa beach which allows you to explore the Skiathos coast line at your own pace, there's a selection of boats available, with or without a captain so you should find something that suits your needs.
