Megali Ammos is just 1km from
Skiathos Town and the name literally means “big beach” so it’s easy to see why this is a popular place to stay.
Depending on where you’re staying the walk to the harbour front of Skiathos town would take from 15 to 25 minutes so easily walkable and a good way to work up an appetite for some delicious Greek food.
Within Megalli Ammos itself there’s a good selection of hotels, apartments and villas, there’s a supermarket and a couple of tavernas but not a lot else. There’s 3 bus stops that you can use for Megali Ammos, bus stop 4 is the eastern end and pretty much in Skiathos Town and then 5 and 6 are as you head west through the resort.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Megali Ammos page of booking.com

Megali Ammos itself has minimal night life, there's a few bars and restaurants but not much in the way of evening entertainment.
Luckily, Megali Ammos is kind of an extension to Skiathos Town so you can make use of all the options in the capital including the bars and restaurants round the sea front and the clubs too.
The beach and close proximity to Skiathos Town are the main attractions to Megali Ammos, the beach is about a kilometre long, it’s narrow and has mainly sand, particularly at the eastern end but becomes more stony as you head west away from the capital.
There are several water front tavernas along the Megali Ammos stretch of beach and its the perfect spot for a stroll in the shallows. This page tells you more about
Megali Ammos beach.
