Arsanas is a small beach on the south coast of
Thassos just east of
Livadi beach. It’s around an hours drive from the capital
Limenas but just 20 minutes from the popular town of
Limenaria.
Arsanas beach is mainly sand with some stones and pebbles around the edges. Getting to the beach is not simple as the road to the beach is a bit rough and it doesn’t lead all the way down to the beach, you have to park at the roadside and walk the last 50 to 100 metres down a steep path to the beach itself.
Once on the beach you’ll find a fairly small stretch of sand, it’s just 60m long and 25m deep, there’s 1 taverna that’s a few steps above the back of the beach and serves food and drinks throughout the day as well as renting out the sun loungers that cover most of the beach.
There’s no water sports, no jetty and minimal room for ball games so perhaps not ideal for youngsters, especially as beach shoes are advised with the sea floor being stony and sea urchins often found in this area.
All of this means that Arsanas beach is not one of the most popular beaches on the island, the fact that it’s so small and is covered with loungers means it doesn’t feel secluded and quiet either.
