Atspas is a small beach close to
Skala Maries on the south west corner of
Thassos island. It’s around 35km from the capital and main port of
Limenas and that would take about 30-40 minutes to drive.
It’s only 40m wide but really deep, over 70m from the sea front to the rear of the beach, despite it’s small size, they’ve somehow found enough room to squeeze in 6 or 7 rows of tightly packed sun loungers which covers most of the front of the beach. There’s plenty of space behind and a bit to each side to lay out a towel on the sand if you prefer.
Atspas has gorgeous soft sand and rocky scenery. The sea stays incredibly shallow for a long way out so it’s the perfect place for kids to splash about and play in the water. There’s no water sports to keep teenagers busy but there is a volleyball net available if you fancy getting active.
There’s no taverna on the beach itself but there is one above the beach at the top of the steps with a seating area over looking the beach that is the perfect spot for a bit of lunch, they will also deliver snacks to you on the beach if you prefer.
There’s parking available at the rear of the beach or on the road side above the beach, the bonus with the roadside parking is you get to take in the great views from up there.
