Psili Ammos is a fairly small but popular sandy beach on the south coast of
Thassos. It’s around an hour from the capital
Limenas and about 10 minutes from
Limenaria so it’s a great option if that’s where you’re staying.
The beach is around 125m long and about 50m deep at it’s widest. During the summer months there are sun loungers covering most of the beach and a number of tavernas, both on the beach and set back slightly so there are great options for food and drinks throughout the day. There's table service available from the tavernas as well as wifi and music too.
The beach has soft, fine sand and the water is pretty clear and a beautiful turquoise blue. The water shelves gently so kids can paddle in the shallows safely.
Psili Ammos is surrounded by rock formations and trees making it an attractive beach, although some would say it’s been spoiled by the amount of sun loungers and visitors it receives. There are no water sports but there is a beach volleyball net and a playground for kids too.
Finding Psili Ammos beach is pretty easy as it’s just off the main coastal road but the only sign post is fairly small and easily missed if you’re not paying attention. There’s parking available at the rear of the beach but as it’s so popular make sure you arrive early to guarantee a spot.
