Limenaria is a port town on the south west coast of
Thassos. It’s around 38km from the capital
Limenas and that’ll take around 45 minutes in the car.
Limenaria is the second largest town, after limenas, on the island and a popular spot for holiday makers along with neighbouring village Kalivia. As it’s one of the more popular resorts you’ll find a good selection of hotels to suit all budgets and needs. There’s also a good range of shops, tavernas and restaurants, many of which are based around the harbour and this makes for a lovely place to relax and unwind for a few hours.
There’s a long and narrow beach in Limenaria but on an island covered with great beaches it doesn’t really stand out as one of the best. It’s perfect for a quick paddle if you’re in Limenaria with kids or just to cool off for an afternoon but if you’re looking to spend the day on the beach there are better options available.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Limenaria page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The evenings in Limenaria revolve largely around the water front. There's tons of great restaurants there with outdoor tables where you can sit for hours watching the world go by.
If you want to stay out a little later than the restaurants allow then there are a few bars where you can get a cocktail or two and stay out past midnight.
If that's still not enough then head east, just out of town and you'll find a club called Bolero that's an open air venue with modern music, a younger crowd, stays open late and is a great place for a night out.
Also close by is the village of
Potos where you can try scuba diving,
The natural rock pool of
Giola is less than 20 minutes drive to the east, there's not a lot to see there but it's a fun place to see and go for a swim.
If you're looking for a great beach then head to
Trypiti beach, it's a decent size so never feels crowded and is just 5 minutes drive west of Limenaria. Alternatively there's the ever popular
San Antonio beach, it's off to the west near Potos and offers loads of amenities like water sports and tavernas.
