Skala Panagia, also known as Chrysi Ammoudia is a gorgeous beach resort on the east coast of
Thassos and just a short trip from the islands capital and main port
Limenas.
Skala Panagia is the village that surrounds the northern end of
Golden beach. As you head south it blends into
Skala Potamia so visiting both at the same time is definitely possible.
With it being close to one of the best beaches on the island it’s become a popular tourist resort over the years. Now it's the perfect destination for those that want a simple holiday around a great beach but still want to be close enough to Limenas for the odd day trip or to enjoy the livelier night life on occasion.
There’s a ton of hotels in the area including some upmarket hotels, beach front apartments with spectacular views of the Aegean sea and even a campsite.
The village has all the usual shops, restaurants and tavernas that you could want for your holiday as well as an ATM and vehicle hire shops too. The only downside is that as this is a relatively new resort it perhaps lacks the traditional Greek charm of some other villages on the island.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Skala Panagia page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Skala Panagia is low key but there's plenty of options, particularly on the beach and the roads around it. It's mainly made up of various restaurants and tavernas rather than late night bars or clubs.
If you're lucky you might find a restaurant that has some music or a Greek themed night with dancing but that's about as lively as it gets.
With Skala Panagia being based around arguably the best sandy beach on Thassos you won't have to go far to keep your family entertained throughout the sunny days.
Another option is to take the short 15 to 20 minute trip to Limenas and take in everything that the main town has to offer, with historical sites, charming harbour front restaurants, a museum and much more it's definitely worth at least one day trip.
