Skala Sotiros is a delightful little beach and harbour village on the west coast of
Thassos. It’s roughly 20km from the islands capital
Limenas and that would be about a 20 minute drive.
As with a lot of the villages on Thassos, Skala Sotiros is small and quiet. There’s a little beach and a good choice of hotels, villas and apartments in and around the village. For those that like to get closer to nature, there’s even a campsite just to the north.
Other facilities in the village include a few bars, mainly around the harbour front, a supermarket and a bakery but there’s no cash machine or vehicle hire shops so you’d have to travel to one of the larger towns for those things.
Skala Sotiros would suit holiday makers that like to see a bit of the real Greece as it retains it’s authentic character, it’s also very quiet so perfect for those that like a bit of peace and relaxation rather than the usual busy tourist resorts.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Skala Sotiros page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
As you’ve probably guessed, the nightlife is pretty low key, it’s common for people to enjoy an evening meal with some wine, followed by a few drinks in the restaurant and that’s about it.
You wont find night clubs or other entertainment like Karaoke in Skala Sotiros. If you’re lucky one of the tavernas may stay open late.
There’s not a huge amount to see or do on the west coast, that’s what a lot of people like about it. The best beaches are generally those on the north or east coasts but you’re not too far from Limenas or the second largest town
Limenaria.
If you want to visit some of the other little towns on the west coast then you have
Skala Kallirachi to the south and
Skala Prinos to the north.
