Thassos sight seeing guide
Our Thassos sight seeing guide is designed to help holiday makers as well as travellers decide which of the islands sights and attractions they want to visit whilst on the island.
Our pick would be to make your way to the south coast and take a dip at Giola, a natural rock swimming pool that’s a nice place to spend an afternoon relaxing by the sea and jumping off the rocks into the water.
Family friendly Thassos sights
This is perhaps where Thassos struggles, there’s no water park and not many activities for kids in the towns, there’s no crazy golf, no go-karting and not much in the way of lively evening entertainment for those in and around their 20s.
What Thassos does have is some great beaches with water sports available to keep youngsters entertained. So all is not lost if you’re visiting as a family.
Historical sites in Thassos
Thassos has an Archaeological museum in Limenas and the ancient agora is in the capital too.
There’s an old town up in the mountains in the centre of the island and an archaeological site in Alyki so although there isn’t many sites there is something to keep the history buffs among you pleased.
Religious sights in Thassos
If you're the type of person that likes to take in the peace and serenity of the local churches whilst on your Greek island holiday then Thassos has a couple of places to look out for. Probably the best of these is the Monastery of Saint Archangel Michael down on the south coast close to Giola and offers gorgeous scenery, gardens and stunning views from it's position on the cliff side.
Other Thassos sights
There are a number of boat trips and tours that you can get on for a day out, most leave from Limenas, Limenaria or Potos but there are also some from Golden beach and Astrida too as well as some of the other beaches around the island. Ask at one of the tour operators either at the ports or in town for details on whats available.
