The Thassos Archaeological museum is located close to the old harbour and right next to the
Ancient Agora in the main town
Limenas.
The Archaeological museum is great value at just 2€ per person and consist of pottery, sculptures and tools that have been excavated from the island. There are also models of how structures would have looked when they were in their prime and photos of the excavations that have taken place over the years.
The Archaeological museum has well ordered and clearly described exhibits, set over multiple floors of a modern and airy building, there are artefacts grouped together in cabinets and free standing exhibits too.
It is highly recommended for those planning to visit the Ancient Agora as it offers visitors an insight as to what the buildings and other structures were so you won’t feel like you’re walking round the Agora not knowing what you’re looking at.
It’s also great for those that want to learn about the island and it’s history as well as the various other ancient sites from around the island too.
