Porto Roma beach is located down at the tip of the Vasilikos peninsular on the south east corner of
Zakynthos (Zante) island. It’s just over 15km from the islands capital
Zakynthos Town and that would usually be a 25 minute drive.
The beach is mainly sand with some stones around the entrance to the sea and a stone wall at the rear. It’s narrow, less than 10 metres wide but stretches out for over 200m. There’s a single row of sun loungers on the sand but more up on the grass verge behind the beach.
There’s no taverna on the beach itself but there’s a couple on the grass verge behind the beach, both are easily accessible and are the perfect options for a nice lunch. The bonus being that as they’re higher up you get a great view to enjoy with your meal.
Porto Roma beach is a relatively quiet beach, mainly because there’s more popular beaches in the area, because of this there’s no water sports or other entertainment so bring any games you want with you.
If you wanted to stay in the area and take advantage of Porto Roma beach on a regular basis then there’s a number of hotels, apartments and villas available. Plus there’s so many diverse beaches in the Vasilikos peninsular, some with water sports and entertainment, some with turtle conservation and other quieter beaches like Porto Roma meaning there’s something for everyone.
Parking at Porto Roma is available around the tavernas, if that fills up then you can park at the roadside too but it’s not normally necessary.
