Laganas is a very popular tourist resort on the south coast of
Zakynthos. It’s just 8km from the islands capital,
Zakynthos Town so can easily be visited for a day trip.
Within Laganas you’ll have a huge variety of accommodation options available to you and a wide array of dining choices too. This includes traditional Greek, English, Chinese, Italian, Indian, and fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Subway and others. Obviously this wont be to everyone’s tastes and those that enjoy charming Greek villages should definitely look elsewhere but if you want an affordable break with plenty of drinking and an English feel but with Greek weather then Laganas is the perfect choice.
Laganas also hosts several shops where you can pick up your basic supplies like snacks, drinks, groceries and baked goods as well as other things like jewellery, leather work, clothing, and handmade products. There’s also other amenities like cash machines and vehicle hire outlets.
The expansive beach, unsurprisingly known as
Laganas Beach, is home to clean, shallow water, plenty of sunbeds with umbrellas and beach bars playing music to keep you entertained throughout the day. It also stays true to its mission to protect endangered sea turtles. As a result, tourists aren’t permitted on the shore at night, but fortunately you’ll have plenty to occupy you in town.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Laganas page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
Having grown into a lively 18-30 style resort over the years, Laganas is without competition on the island as the go to destination for youngsters looking to party. There’s a tonne of bars all competing to get you in so there’s cheap drinks and offers all over the place.
There’s huge clubs with DJs and foam parties, cocktail bars open well into the night and much more. This is all based around the main strip which is packed full of young people going from bar to bar all night long.
If you want a slower pace then you can get off the main strip and find traditional Greek dancing, live music, karaoke and calmer, more civilised cocktail bars to enjoy.
Laganas is in the perfect location to visit
Marathonisi Island and check out the beach and everything else the little island has to offer.
If you’re not content with the bars in Laganas, you can book yourself on to one of the boat parties that are organised from here. These are a great choice for those looking to meet new people and explore the region a bit whilst drinking and dancing.
Other options to keep you and your group entertained and the Laganas Go-Karts and the horse riding school.
