What is Askos Stone Park Like
The Greek islands are renowned worldwide for their natural beauty, but most of the hype goes to the crystalline waters, golden sands, and rolling vineyards, rather than the wildlife. The oversight, however, is truly unjust and you can get to know a different side of Zakynthos at the Askos Stone Park.
Over a hundred thousand self-sown plants grow within the park’s confines as well as hundreds of free-roaming animals, including mammals, birds, insects, amphibians and more. There are goats, deer, pigs, peacocks, raccoons, donkeys and much more, many of which you can interact with and feed. As the name suggests there are also a number of ancient stone structures around the park making a great place for history and nature lovers as well as families.
Scientific organisations frequently use park land for research purposes, but the park primarily opens to visitors so they can observe free fauna in a natural habitat.
