Solomos Museum is located in St. Marks Square which is in the capital
Zakynthos Town.
Solomos Museum opened in 1959 and honours the beloved poets Dionysios Solomos and Andreas Kalvos. Inside you’ll also find paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries, sculptures, and pottery.
Even more impressive is the museum’s collection of everyday artefacts, from noble families’ clothing and weapons to ancient musical instruments.
There’s good informational signs as you go around the museum but as of 2019 those signs were all in Greek although the museum has said it’s working on getting that info translated into other languages so that may change. There is an English guide available but it’s less in depth.
Solomos Museum is one of the sites built after the great earthquake of 1953 to help restore Zakynthos to its former glory.
The entrance fee is just 4€ per person which most would agree is reasonable for what’s on display.
