Which Greek Island Blog

Ixia

Ixia isn’t really a village or town, it’s more a collection of enormous hotels plus a few restaurants and shops located along the main coast road between Rhodes Town and Ialysos. It caters mainly to package holiday makers with good bars restaurants and night life.

Karterados

Karterados is a traditional village, slightly inland to the east of Fira, it's made up of one main street that runs through the centre of the village and other narrow streets with traditional Cycladic buildings as well as cave houses built into the rocks.

Perissa

Perissa is an attractive village with whitewashed houses and volcanic scenery. It was mostly built in the sixties and some say it lacks the authentic Greek charm of other villages but it makes up for that with its relaxed sea side nightlife.

Oia

Oia is the second most popular resort on the island behind Fira. It’s a beautiful village perched on top of the caldera with amazing views. It’s a romantic little village and very popular with couples and honeymooners, it also hosts many weddings every year.

Kamari

Kamari is a beach resort on the east coast of Santorini and it's arguably the best beach on the island. The village itself has loads of restaurants and a large portion of those are down by the sea front so you’ll get to soak in the views whilst enjoying your meal.

Fira

Fira is the capital of Santorini, it's a beautiful town that looks like it’s grown out of the hillside with whitewashed and pastel coloured houses, upmarket hotels and restaurants offering stunning views out across the caldera and loads of nightlife options.

Skala Panagia

Skala Panagia, also known as Chrysi Ammoudia is a gorgeous beach resort on the east coast and surrounds the northern end of Golden beach. As you head south it blends into Skala Potamia so visiting both at the same time is definitely possible.

Skala Potamia

Skala Potamia, sometimes known as Chrisi Akti is based at the southern end of Golden beach on the east coast of Thassos. It's ideal for a family beach holiday and there’s no shortage of hotels and a wealth of tavernas and restaurants to choose from.

Limenaria

Limenaria is the second largest town in Thassos and a popular spot for holiday makers along with neighbouring village Kalivia. As it’s one of the more popular resorts you’ll find a good selection of hotels and a good range of shops, tavernas and restaurants too.

Limenas

Limenas is the capital and largest town on Thassos and is often referred to as Thassos Town. It's home to the main port on the island and links to Keramoti port on the mainland. It has everything you need including plenty of hotels and restaurants.
