Which Greek Island Blog

Lassi

Lassi is a fairly popular tourist resort in Kefalonia, it’s a short drive from the airport and centres around the main road or “strip” that's about a mile long, the biggest criticism of Lassi is that it’s not a particularly authentic Greek resort.

Skala

Skala is a resort on the south east coast of Kefalonia. it has a great beach, ample tavernas, restaurants, bars and even a club. Due to it's location Skala is not great for those that want to explore the island as most of the attractions are a long way away.

Agia Effimia

Agia Effimia is a small picturesque fishing village just north of Sami in Kefalonia. It's a regular stop for yachts and has a very narrow pebble beach, lots of tavernas, bars and restaurants, mainly around the harbour front with lovely views of the bay.

Kardamena

Kardamena is a small village in the centre of the south coast, it's known for its lively nightlife and although it doesn’t get quite as raucous as the likes of Kavos or Malia it’s not far behind. There's bars everywhere, a good beach and loads of accommodation.

Kefalos

Kefalos is a lovely village built on the hill in the south west of Kos and sprawling out over the surrounding areas. Kefalos is roughly 15km from the airport and 40km from Kos Town. In Kefalos you’ll find the folklore museum as well as many restaurants and hotels.

Kos Town

Kos Town is the capital and largest town on Kos. Here you will find a lot of the attractions including the Hippocrates tree, the ancient agora, Neratzia castle, Casa Romana and the Roman Odeon as well as museums, a plethora of bars, restaurants and night life.

Psalidi

Psalidi is a small resort on the east coast of Kos, it’s fairly modern and home to some of the best hotels on the island. It’s roughly a 30 minute walk from the capital Kos town. It’s perfect for families as there’s a pleasant and safe beach, plenty of amenities.

Kanapitsa

Kanapitsa is a beautiful peninsula towards the south of Skiahtos down at bus stop 12. It's around 6km from the capital Skiathos Town which is a short 10-15 minute drive. Kanapitsa has a quiet and relaxed feel with a few tavernas scattered about.

Koukounaries

The village of Koukounaries is much smaller than you'd expect being connected to such a popular beach, it's basically a single main road that has a number of restaurants, supermarkets and other facilities dotted along it, there's not much nightlife though.

Skiathos Town

Skiathos Town is the main harbour for the island and capital of Skiathos. This will be the best place to stay for a lot of people travelling to Skiathos. It offers plenty of bars and restaurants for the evenings and is on the main road so it’s easy to get about.
