The war museum is found to the south of Platanias. It's a short 10 minute walk form the resort centre but it's up some steep hills so might be a struggle to reach for the less mobile amongst you.

The museum is made up of tunnels filled with artefacts from world war 2 like weapons, ammunition, clothing, photos and much more. There's also some outdoor exhibits like the artillery cannon in the photos below. 

The WW2 museum is well documented and gives a great insight into what life was like for the people of Crete during WW2 and particularly the Battle of Crete in 1941.

The entrance fee is 3 euros and you should expect to spend 45 minutes to an hour in the museum to properly explore the exhibits.

The war museum is close to some great restaurants that offer incredible views over Cretes northern coast so you can combine both activities.
