Kokkini is a small beach on the east coast of
Rhodes. It's just over 8km from the capital
Rhodes town which is about a 10-15 minute drive.
The beach is just 70m wide and has sand under foot. There's rocks blocking the entrance to the water so you either need to climb over those or use the stairs to get to the water. This probably makes the beach a poor choice for those with young families.
Sunbeds cover the front of the beach and there's 5 or 6 rows of them, they're not tightly packed in and rarely fill up so doesn't feel crowded. The cost to hire in 2022 was 10 Euros for 2 beds and an umbrella so competitive for the rest of the island and cheaper than
Kallithea beach next door.
Kokkini beach doesn't offer water sports or have pedalos to hire, the appeal of this beach is the peace and quiet as well as the beauty of the rocky scenery so don't expect music or wifi or anything like that.
There's toilets at the rear of the beach as well as a shower to wash the sand off at the end of the day. There's a large car park that holds around 100 cars but it's shared with visitors to both Kallithea beach and
Kallithea Springs so can be busy at times but usually has room.
