Fanes is a small village on the west coast of
Rhodes just south of
Theologos. It's around 25km from the capital
Rhodes Town which would usually take about 35 minutes to drive.
Transfers between Fanes and Rhodes airport will be anywhere from 15 minutes to over half an hour depending on if you're lucky enough to be the first drop off or not.
The village itself is about 1.5km inland but there's also some hotels down by the beach including the enormous All Senses Nautica Blue Resort & Spa which you can find out more about and through booking.com
hereFanes isn't a popular tourist destination so doesn't boast the sort of amenities that you get in the more popular resorts but there is an ATM on the outskirts of town, a few villas available to hire and a couple of shops and places to eat but that's about it.
The main attraction to Fanes village is the unique way the buildings are decorated. The village was painted in bright colours by Loukas Nikolitsis with the help of local residents in 2010 and it gives the place a unique and charming feel.
There's also Fanes beach which is sandy and home to a kite surfing school to keep you entertained, whether you take part or just watch others.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Fanes page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Jet2
here.
The nightlife in Fanes is virtually non-existent. There's no late night bars or other entertainment so you'll have to travel to somewhere else for the evenings unless you're staying at Nautica Blue in which case you'll have more options.
Fanes is on the north coast which can be quite breazy so kite surfing and wind surfing are popular activities in the area.
Ancient Kamiros is about 10 minutes drive to the west of Fanes. It's the remains of several ancient houses spread out over a vast area and makes for an interesting wander round.
