Agios Fokas beach is found on the south east corner of
Kos, just east of
Thermes beach. There isn’t much in the area other than some upscale beach front hotels with spas and large pools.
There’s also a trendy beach club with multiple seating areas, a canopy covered dining area as well as some comfortable lounging areas with padded seats, bean bags and a kids play area. There are also sun beds available in front of the club and hotels as well.
Agios Fokas is a large beach with only the areas around the hotels and club getting busy, the rest of the beach is often pretty empty, it’s lined with pine trees that give off a lovely aroma and offer some natural shade. It’s not to everyone’s tastes though as it’s grey sand with a large number of pebbles and rocks so walking on the beach can be uncomfortable at times. The water is perfectly clear and great for snorkelling.
To keep the more active amongst you busy there are beach volleyball and tennis courts available as well as regular Pilates and exercise classes run by the beach club.
Most people using Agios Fokas beach will be staying in one of the near by hotels but if you’re visiting from somewhere else on the island then getting there is simple, just follow the main coastal road round from
Kos town, it should take about 10-15 minutes from the capital to the beach. Once there you’ll find a number of small car parks around the quieter areas of the beach or you can park on the road by the hotels.
