Markos beach is a section of the south coast of
Kos between
Lagada Beach and
Psilios Gremos beach. It's around 35km from the islands capital
Kos Town and that's about a 40 minute drive.
The beach is sandy and quite large, it's over 30m from the waters edge to the rear of the beach and the section known as Markos beach is around 250m long but merges with the other beaches along this part of the coast. The entire stretch of coast is over 4km so you can definitely find a bit of peace and quiet if you want to.
Markos beach has minimal facilities, there's usually a row or two of sun loungers, there's a snack hut on the beach for your basic refreshments and a taverna up the hill if you want a larger meal whilst there.
There's no water sports on Markos beach and the water doesn't get deep straight away so kids can splash about in the water safely, there's also plenty of room for them to play in the sand so it's a good option for families.
The beach doesn't get too busy and there's tons of space at the rear of the beach for parking so if you have a hire car, motorbike or quad then there's room to leave it there. Finding Markos beach is no problem as there's signposts from the main road and a decent road from there down to the beach itself.
