Golden beach is one of the most popular on
Thassos island, it’s located on the east coast around 10km from the capital
Limenas which would take around 20 minutes in the car.
The beach itself is just under 3km long so there’s plenty of room for everyone and despite it being one of the most popular beaches on the island it never feels over crowded. It’s also great if you’re someone that enjoys walking along the water front.
Golden Beach has a shallow entrance to the sea and soft fine sand making it perfect for families with young kids. There’s plenty to entertain older kids at Golden beach too, there’s a number of water sports vendors spread out along the length of the coast. You’ll also find a volleyball court and tons of shops for your bucket and spade, inflatables or bat and ball games.
There’s no shortage of tavernas at Golden beach, all the way along the back of the beach there’s multiple places to get food and drink, some of them play music to entertain those renting the sunbeds out the front, some even offer wifi and table service to customers. As well as sun beds with umbrellas available to rent there’s also toilets and showers.
Getting to Golden beach is simple as there’s a main road leading down and it’s very well signposted. The trip can be done in any of the islands basic hire cars, quad bikes or other vehicles. There’s parking available behind the bars and shops as well as down by the harbour on the southern end of the beach.
There's two villages that border Golden beach,
Skala Panagia and
Skala Potamia. Both have good facilities so if you're looking for a beach holiday location then either would be great.
