Skala Rachoni beach is on the north west coast of
Thassos, it’s just over 10km from the islands capital
Limenas and that’s about a 15 minute drive.
The sandy beach is a decent size, it stretches from Skala Rachoni harbour for over 400m, it’s just 13m deep in places but up to 25m at it’s widest point so there’s plenty of space available, particularly as it’s not one of the most popular beaches on the island.
There’s sun loungers available for those that want them and they’re not tightly packed in like you find on some beaches, there’s also plenty of space left clear in case you want to play ball games or just lay out a towel and relax.
Skala Rachoni beach is home to a number of hotels and tavernas at the rear of the beach so you could base your entire holiday here or spend the day and have lunch right on the beach.
There’s no water sports, the back of the beach is lined with trees which can provide some welcome shade on hot days and you can see the mainland on a clear day making Skala Rachoni beach a pleasant place to spend the day.
Getting to Skala Rachoni beach is simple as it’s just off the main coastal road that takes you round the island and there’s parking available at the roadside around the tavernas and hotels just behind the beach.
