Agios Nicholaos beach, otherwise known as St Nicholas Port beach is in the north of
Zakynthos (Zante) island. It’s just over 30km from the islands capital,
Zakynthos Town, and that would usually be around a 45 minute drive.
The beach is just 75 metres long and 15 metres at it’s widest with mainly pebbles but some sand in places. There’s trees at the rear that offer some natural shade and then a wall before you get to the road.
Agios Nicholaos beach has a handful of sunbeds available and a couple of tavernas that offer delicious food for lunch or snacks, plus you can sit and watch the boats as you enjoy your meal.
Due to the fact that it’s right next to a working port, you’ll find boats coming and going throughout the day, this means the water is sometimes disturbed by the wash of the boats and there can also be the smell of petrol in the air too.
Because of this, and the fact that the water gets deep fairly quickly, as well as the lack of water sports, Agios Nicholaos beach is probably not great for those with kids that need to be entertained all day.
If you’re visiting by car then you’ll find plenty of space to park the car with dedicated car parks at either end of the beach and roadside parking too.
