Little Xigia is a small, picturesque beach on the east coast of
Zakynthos, just north of
Alykes. It's around 25km from the capital
Zakynthos Town and that would usually take about 40 minutes in the car.
The beach is made up of stones rather than sand, has rocks around the waters edge and larger boulders just off shore, some of which are good for jumping off, just make sure it's safe before trying.
Little Xigia isn't recommended for families as there's no entertainment for young ones and the stones and rocks make it uncomfertable for them. Plus the stairs leading down are steep and can be difficult for little legs.
There's no taverna on the beach itself but there is a trailer at the top of the stairs serving food and drinks with stunning views. They can even send stuff down to the beach in a basket that's attached to a cable with a bike wheel pully system.
There's sun loungers available to hire but as the beach is so small, just 60m by 15m at it's widest and much narrower in most areas there's only a small amount available so arrive early if you really want to secure one.
Little Xigia beach isn't one of the most popular on the island but can feel busy at peak times as it's so small.
Getting to Little Xigia is simple as it's right off the main road, there's a small car park just behind the taverna and then you have to walk down the steps to get to the beach itself. There's toilets up at the taverna but that's about it. There's no water sports, pedalo hire or anything like that.
