Agios Leon is in the mid west of
Zakynthos close to
Porto Limnionas beach. It’s around 25km from the capital
Zakynthos Town and that’s just over half an hours drive.
The small village of Agios Leon is a traditional Mediterranean village featuring quaint white washed houses with red-tiled roofs.
Agios Leon is home to a 14th century orthodox church which features a bell tower that was formed out of an old windmill and is a lovely place to spend some time.
The coastline on this side of this island is spectacularly remote, making this small town an ideal base for a secluded holiday away from tourist crowds. Its mountainous surroundings also create ample hiking opportunities.
If you’re just visiting for the day then you’ll have the choice of a number of tavernas for lunch or your evening meal as well as a couple of supermarkets so you can get supplies for the day.
If you'd like to stay in the area then have a look at the Agios Leon page of booking.com
here. Alternatively find a great package holiday through Tui
here.
The nightlife in Agios Leon is, as you might expect, minimal. There's just a couple of tavernas and although they'll likely stay open late if there's enough people in there, they don't have late night parties or anything like that.
There's no Karaoke, night clubs or other entertainment. Agios Leon is the type of place that you'd stay if you just want to enjoy a nice meal and a couple of drinks.
There's not a huge amount of attractions in this area, there's
Helmis natural history museum just 15 minutes to the north east. There's also
Agia Mavra church and
Eleftherotria monastery that are both about 20 minutes drive to the south east.
