Astrakeri is on the north coast of
Corfu between
Roda and
Sidari, it’ll take you just under an hour to make the 35km drive to or from
Kerkyra.
Astrakeri is a large rustic beach that is mainly sand but with some pebbles, the water is shallow which means it’s ideal for kids, it does drop steeply once you get a bit further out so be sure that the little ones stay in the shallow areas.
Astrakeri has minimal facilities making it perfect for those that want to get away from the tourist hot spots, there are some sunbeds available to hire as well as a volleyball net for those that want to get a bit more active. There’s also a small jetty where you can pick up an island tour if you fancy it.
There are no tavernas directly on the beach but just behind there are a couple of fish restaurants where you can go for refreshments and the latest catch of the day, as well as other dishes.
You may sometimes find, if the winds have been strong that there will be some seaweed washed up at the shore line, but don’t let that put you off from visiting this delightful, quiet and unspoiled area of Corfu coast.
