Katelios beach is on the south coast of Kefalonia, as you’d expect it’s close to the village of
Katelios and not far from the popular tourist resort of
Skala either. It’s around 30km south of
Argostoli and that journey would usually take around 40 minutes in a car.
Katelios beach is mainly shingle with some stone and sand in places, particularly at the waters edge. It doesn’t have the wealth of tourist facilities that you would find on the main Kefalonia beaches so it’s a welcome change to some but disappointing to others.
There are a small number of Sun loungers available, mainly at the western end close to the harbour, this is also where you’ll find the tavernas and where the majority of the visitors gather. The eastern end is much quieter and the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying some peace and quiet.
There’s ample parking at the rear of the beach, particularly around the western end and close to the harbour too so if you’re visiting from somewhere else on the island you’ll easily find somewhere to leave the car, quad bike or other vehicle. Alternatively you could simply book into one of the nearby hotels and walk to the beach each day.
