Koroni beach is a gorgeous sandy cove that lies around the bay of Mounda in
Kefalonia, not far from the resort of
Skala.
It’s a fairly quiet beach but there are still a small collection of sun loungers available to hire. There’s no taverna on the beach itself but there is one part way up the access road, it’s probably best to bring your own food and drink though. There’s no water sports on Koroni beach and there’s some rocks around the entrance to the sea so it’s probably not ideal for kids.
Koroni beach is surrounded by steep cliffs and lush vegetation making it one of the more picturesque beaches in Kefalonia. With the cliffs blocking easy access to the beach, you have to take the steep, dirt road that takes you down to the beach, it’s easiest on a quad bike but quite possible in a hire car. There’s a small car park at the end of the dirt road but it does fill up
Koroni has been known as a turtle nesting beach but recently the nests are at risk from the clay that washes down from the cliffs to the rear of the beach every time it rains.
